| The 100 Black Men of Memphis, Inc. (100 BMOM) is one of 101 chapters and 10,000 members of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. In 1963, a group of African American leaders in New York began meeting to support and advise the community. They adopted the name 100 Black Men as a sign of solidarity. In 1986, nine chapters came together to form the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. and to provide a national platform for African American men of business, industry and government and to devote their skills and resources to confront the challenges facing African Americans.
In 1986, Bobby Welch founded the 100 BMOM. Today, Bernal E. Smith, II is leading our success at reaching African American males and showing them the pathways to success. As Memphians, we stand at the bridge of opportunity to unite our city and prepare it for our future history makers. The 100 BMOM thanks you for your continued support of resources toward youth development.
